Planning a new website this year?

January is when a lot of businesses decide this is the year the website finally gets sorted. The ones that end up happy with the result usually have one thing in common: they started with a clear brief.

A good brief does not need to be long or technical. It just needs to answer a few honest questions, so whoever builds your site can quote properly and build the right thing the first time.

Three things to put in your brief

  1. What the website must achieve. More enquiries, online sales, bookings or recruitment. Pick the one that matters most.
  2. Who it is for. Describe your best customer in a sentence or two. The site should speak to them.
  3. What you like and what you do not. Two or three sites you admire, and what you want to avoid. Also note your budget and deadline.
