We are not fussed about where you are or what your background looks like. We care about craft, reliability and how you communicate.
Real work you can talk through, what the brief was, what you decided, what changed. Personal projects count.
You reply within a reasonable window, flag blockers early and don't disappear mid-project.
Briefs are clear, but you're expected to run with them. Ask smart questions, come back with options.
If a timeline is tight, say so. If it's realistic, hit it. We plan around what freelancers actually commit to.
Type set properly, spacing considered, links that work, exports that don't need re-doing. The small stuff.
Send us your day rate or project rate. We'd rather pay properly for good work than negotiate hard on cheap work.
Not everything we make is for clients. Squishly Tools is our free file toolbox: compress and resize images, merge and edit PDFs, shrink videos and clean up spreadsheets, all inside the browser with nothing ever uploaded. It runs in 15 languages and is used by people all over the world.
Freelancers in the network sometimes get to work on it, from new tools and interface polish to guides, translations and launch content. It is a good place to try ideas that client projects do not always have room for.

No. We work remotely with freelancers across South Africa and abroad. If a project needs someone on the ground for a shoot or workshop, we'll say so up front.
No. This is strictly freelance and project-based. You keep your own business, your own clients and your own hours. We brief you on projects that fit and you decide whether to take them on.
Honestly, it depends. Some freelancers get regular briefs, others hear from us every few months. It's driven by the projects coming in and the skills each one needs.
Per project against your quote, or per day if the project is time-based. Payment terms are agreed up front. No 60-day waits, no chasing.
Yes, wherever the client agreement allows it. If the work goes into a case study, you're named. If your work is under NDA, we'll tell you.
That's a separate conversation. Ikonik does offer white-label services to other agencies and freelancers, get in touch to talk it through.
Not necessarily. If you freelance on the side of a full-time role and can commit to deadlines around your day job, that can still work for smaller briefs. Be upfront about your availability.
Depends on the role. Designers: Figma. Motion: After Effects or similar. Developers: modern HTML/CSS/JS and WordPress or the JS framework you know well. Copywriters: Google Docs is fine.
Yes, if you have real work to show and can commit to project deadlines. Student status doesn't matter; the work does.
